This course introduces the core principles of safeguarding in early years settings and helps staff understand their duty to protect children from harm. It covers recognising signs of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect, online risks and exploitation. Learners will understand the need for vigilance, timely action and accurate record-keeping. The course explains key safeguarding roles, including the Designated Safeguarding Lead, and outlines reporting procedures in line with statutory guidance. It also explores professional boundaries, appropriate conduct and the importance of creating a safe, supportive environment. By the end, learners will respond confidently and appropriately to concerns within the setting.
