What the course covers
It is built on Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 and the National Minimum Standards for boarding schools, and covers pupils whose parents live overseas, educational guardians, host families, prefects, devices and the professional boundaries that matter when you live on site.By the end of this course, you will be able to learn, boarding staff must uphold strict legal duties and welfare standards inspected by ISI or Ofsted by maintaining professional boundaries and remaining highly vigilant to safeguarding risks, safeguarding concerns, child-on-child abuse, and online harm that often surface during evenings, weekends, overnight periods, or following exeats. This requires knowing night-time expectations, acting immediately out of hours when designated leads are absent, handling missing boarder protocols correctly, supporting international and privately fostered students through their guardians or host families, and promptly addressing any misuse of prefect power or concerns regarding adults.
