What the course covers

This course focuses on Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED), one of the prime areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We will explore how children develop a sense of self, manage their feelings, and build relationships with others.

You will examine practical activities and environmental setups that encourage co-operation, resilience, and empathy among children in your setting. The module also covers how to model positive behaviours and support children during emotional outbursts or conflicts.

By the end of the module, you will be able to confidently plan experiences that promote emotional literacy, help children navigate peer interactions, and lay a strong foundation for their lifelong wellbeing.

What your team takes away

  • Understand the milestones of emotional and social development when you assess young children
  • Create a supportive environment that helps you build resilience and self-confidence
  • Apply effective strategies when you help children manage their feelings and behaviour
  • Foster positive peer interactions and friendships when you facilitate group play

How it runs

The course opens in a browser on a phone, a tablet or a desktop, with nothing to install. Progress is saved as it goes, so someone can stop and pick it back up. The assessment sits at the end, and passing it issues a certificate with its own reference number that an inspector or an auditor can check.
